Welcome to Mrs. Cohen's 3rd Grade Class!
 Dear Parents,
My name is Mrs. Miriam Cohen and I will have the pleasure of teaching your child this year. I would like to tell you a few facts about myself.
I have taught all grade levels in the elementary school from kindergarten to sixth grade. In 1991, I received my Bachelor's degree in Health Care Management (Magna Cum Laude) from California State University Dominguez Hills and in 2006, completed a Master's of Education in Curriculum/ Instruction: Reading degree from Grand Canyon University in Arizona.
In school year 2006-2007, the City Council of Wilmington, CA honored me with the "Teacher of the Year" award. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate Degree in Education in Technology & Management at North Central University and I hope to graduate by 2012.
In addition to my scholarly pursuits, my husband and I are amateur ballroom dancers. I enjoy walking and hiking on various trails in the Palos Verdes Peninsula with my husband and kids, reading books authored by Max Lucado and Frank Peretti, listening to worship music, and incorporating American Sign Language (ASL) in school curriculum and church related activities. I am blessed to be married to my wonderful husband, David, and we have two beautiful children named Angelica and Reagan. We currently fellowship at Rolling Hills Covenant Church, Life on the Hill in Rolling Hills, and Free Chapel in Irvine. We enjoy attending weekend services at these churches because they provide opportunities for spiritual growth and community involvement.
It is my belief that a child's success is based on a cooperative parent and teacher realtionship. I look forward to teaming up with you throughout the year. |
